Broker set to hike 110km across NT for food rescue charity

Aussie Oxenford mortgage broker Adam Hall is currently training to complete an arduous five-day hike across some of the most rugged terrain in Northern Territory to support food rescue organisation OzHarvest.

Along with 15 walkers, including OzHarvest founder and CEO Ronni Kahn, Hall will trek some sections of the Larapinta Trail and climb Mount Sonder. The Larapinta trail is considered one of the country’s most challenging – and beautiful – trekking experiences, while Mount Sonder is one of the Northern Territory’s highest peaks.

Hall has been training daily for months, often with a heavy backpack on to get accustomed to the conditions he’ll soon confront. The hike will commence on 16 August and will involve a seven-hour daily walk.

“A few years ago I went to my first OzHarvest event and the thing that struck me right away was that it’s not a charity after your money. The food you donate is just as important to them,” Hall said in a statement.

“One thing I have discovered during my training and fundraising is the power of community and the enthusiasm of people to support each other, especially those in need.”

Hall has raised his target to $5,000 from his original plan of $4,000.
