New Mortgage Choice head of franchise recruitment offers tips for brokers

Recently appointed head of franchise recruitment for Mortgage Choice, Jerome Smith brings an impressive repertoire to the table. MPA spoke with Smith about what attracted him to the role and why now is a good time to start a Mortgage Choice business.

The growth of a pioneer

Hailing from the world of real estate, Smith has quite a track record when it comes to growing franchise networks.

“I am a growth specialist, having helped grow 29 Franchise offices and recruit 150 sales people across both the Ray White Group and LJ Hooker Corporation.”

His most recent role was that of senior network development manager and senior auctioneer with the LJ Hooker Corporation.

He says he is excited to be starting the next chapter of his career with such an iconic company.

“Mortgage Choice is a pioneer in this industry and its brand name is synonymous with mortgage broking.”

“It’s a real privilege to be able to grow the footprint of an iconic brand which has helped hundreds of thousands of Australians realise their homeownership dreams.”

The opportunity to build a legacy

Helping people take their businesses to new heights is quite a passion for Smith, and he sees Mortgage Choice as an ideal vehicle to achieve this.

He adds that record low interest rates coupled with strong consumer demand makes now the perfect time for brokers to start their own Mortgage Choice business.

“Starting a Mortgage Choice franchise is an opportunity to build a legacy and bring in family members to help you continue that legacy.”

“The role of mortgage brokers is more important than ever and in challenging economic times Australians turn to professionals and brands they know and trust.”

“It is this consideration I hope to leverage to help ambitious entrepreneurs start their own Mortgage Choice business.”

What new franchisees can do to grow business

Smith offers the three following tips for franchisees who are just starting out:

  1. Become the standard bearer of exceptional customer service in your local area.
  2. Develop and maintain a robust contact management plan and communication plan to stay top of mind.
  3. Develop a strong digital online and social media presence.
