Name: Jessica Pringle
Years in the industry: 14 years
Company: Pepper Money
Location: NSW/ACT

What did you do before entering the industry?

I have been in the finance industry from the age of 19. To be honest I don’t remember doing anything else! With a strong focus on customer service from being a teller in a bank through to lending manager, broker and now BDM. I guess you could say the industry chose me! I find my experience has assisted greatly with how I see a transaction and of course communicate with brokers around what we can do to offer the customer a Pepper Money loan.

How often do you see mortgage brokers in a week?

At the moment this looks quite different, however, over the last few years 15 broker office meetings per week was the average.

What do mortgage brokers want most from you?

Clarification of product solutions for their clients so the broker can be confident prior to lodgement of application and I take pride in my role in this process. Building a strong relationship with a broker partner comes from staying consistent and reliable and that trust is built over time.

What is your favourite part of the job?

I am a very social person and love meeting new people and assisting through education of the Pepper Money solutions. Those that know me say I love a good chat and networking/presenting to me is something I love doing because I believe in the value I’m providing. At Pepper we have a wide range of solutions for Australians across all walks of life. It’s something I am passionate about and this makes the job enjoyable; seeing goals come to life.

What distinguishes the best brokers you deal with?

What separates the best broker comes down to structure, discipline and passion for their clients. Having a good sense of humour helps too! Working together for a common goal to assist specific clients depending on the circumstances is rewarding for all involved.

What’s your ideal weekend?

I love spending time with family and friends; a good meal, footy and camp fires are heaven. Ideally, I would like to throw in a massage and pedicure too, to be honest!

What’s the strangest lending scenario you’ve ever encountered?

Several of the scenarios and wins I have been a part of might seem strange as that comes with the wonderful world of Pepper non-conforming!  From clients that have been turned down for a finance opportunity due to being newly self-employed, previous loss of employment that caused low credit score or defaults and even illness of family members, we take a “real” credit approach to analyse the risk and have had huge success stories that make it all worth the effort.

What's your top time-saving tip and how much time does it save you?

Charge all iPad/laptop/phones overnight. This has always saved me time. Also writing down my “Goals/must achieve” daily goals, keeping it realistic (say under five) each day. This saves time and stress and assists with feeling organised which is key to a good day.

What’s your favourite meal?

I cannot go past a good pub meal; ribs and chips will do me every time!
