BDM in the spotlight: Jacqui Knegt
MyState BDM for QLD, Jacqui Knegt, has spent 20 years in the industry and eight as a BDM.

BDM in the spotlight asks a different BDM the same questions – giving you a weekly insight into the lives of some of the top BDMs in the country.

How often do you see brokers in a week?
The goal is 15 visits a week, this may also involve training sessions.

What do brokers want most from you?
To ensure we get back to them in a timely manner whether this is by phone, email or text.

What is your favourite part of the job?
To create value. I enjoy finding opportunities and finding solutions and to really make a difference. Meeting brokers in person and learning more about themselves and their business helps to build a strong relationship and serve their clients better.

What distinguishes the best brokers you deal with?
One who has their clients' best interest in mind. They keep up to date with policy changes and know how to submit a good deal.

Describe your ideal weekend:
Spending time with my four kids. Time at the beach or in the hinterland. A good dinner out. I also love to visit a good market, I am a bit of a foodie.

What’s the strangest lending scenario you’ve ever encountered?
I haven’t really had any strange lending scenarios. Over the years, I’ve seen the sale of some unusual assets. But most have been reasonable.

How do you like your steak done?
It must be grass fed. Medium rare and chargrilled – accompanied with a nice sauce and a good glass of wine of course.

Every Wednesday we’ll feature a different BDM from across Australia. If you’d like to be included, please email the editor.
