This week's Homeloans BDM for Melbourne has spent seven years in the industry.

Homeloans BDM for Melbourne, Therese Cameron, has spent seven years in the industry after gaining an Honours Management degree majoring in Economics.

BDM in the spotlight asks a different BDM the same seven questions – giving you a weekly insight into the lives of some of the top BDMs in the country.

How often do you see brokers in a week?
As I am a Relationship Manager working with brokers throughout the East Coast, I am mostly office based. On average I would visit brokers or go to industry events around once per week.

What do brokers want most from you?
To be responsive and as informative as possible. It helps that I used to be a broker for Homeloans so I know all of the products inside and out, as well as having understanding of what challenges brokers are facing on a day to day basis.

What is your favourite part of the job?
Finding a solution for our brokers better than they ever could have hoped for!

What distinguishes the best brokers you deal with?
The best brokers have attention to detail and most importantly, know not to burn their relationships over one deal.

Describe your ideal weekend
A sleep in, eating out, walking my Japanese Spitz puppy and socialising over a drink (or two) with good friends

What’s the strangest lending scenario you’ve ever encountered?
A lady that had nearly $300,000 in credit card debt after blowing out on renovations on her 2-bedroom unit… fair to say that unfortunately she had over capitalised!

How do you like your steak done?
Medium rare all the way

Every Wednesday we’ll feature a different BDM from across Australia. If you’d like to be included, please email the editor.
