BDM in the spotlight: Sally Carmichael
Homeloans BDM for Victoria, Sally Carmichael, once worked as a quality control officer which she says is where she got her attention to detail from.

BDM in the spotlight asks a different BDM the same seven questions – giving you a weekly insight into the lives of some of the top BDMs in the country.

How often do you see brokers in a week?
I see brokers regularly but each week is different and with the new broker portfolio in Vic, I am sure I will be clicking up a few miles.

What do brokers want most from you?
I believe knowledge of products and policies is absolutely essential especially with 6 funders to choose from, as a quick answer is what brokers need.

What is your favourite part of the job?
Finding a solution for the broker to help them grow their business, every day with Homeloans is different and definitely keeps me on my toes.

What distinguishes the best brokers you deal with?
Professionalism, knowledge and a broker that will look outside of the box to find the right product and features for their client.

Describe your ideal weekend:
Now in Victoria I will be spending a lot of weekends with my granddaughter, who is a very active 6 year old, then relaxing with my husband with a nice glass of wine.

What’s the strangest lending scenario you’ve ever encountered?
I wouldn't say I get strange scenarios but “different” may be the better word. I get a few of those across my desk.

How do you like your steak done?
I love steak, medium rare, but I don't eat it as often as I would like. I just find chicken more versatile to cook with, so I’m open to recipes if anyone has any they would like to share!

Every Wednesday we’ll feature a different BDM from across Australia. If you’d like to be included, please email the editor.
