St George BDM for NSW/ACT Ron Galvan has spent 9 years in the industry.

BDM in the spotlight asks a different BDM the same seven questions – giving you a weekly insight into the lives of some of the top BDM’s in the country.

How often do you see brokers in a week?
Putting a face to a name is crucial in establishing the relationship, maintaining the relationship and being top of mind. I enjoy spending just as much time on the road as I do on the phone, and meet face to face with at least 15 brokers a week.

What do brokers want most from you?
Being available and highly responsive to requests for clients. Brokers want me to keep in mind that at the end of each transaction there is a customer so I need to treat each and every deal with respect and urgency.

What is your favourite part of the job?
Learning and helping broker businesses grow. Also knowing that what I am doing is helping put people in homes.

What distinguishes the best brokers you deal with?
Their end-to-end processes and how they communicate with their clients. Great brokers manage their clients' expectations and always keep their clients' individual needs in the foreground.

Describe your ideal weekend
It would be a combination of church, beach, gym, friends and family.

What’s the strangest lending scenario you’ve ever encountered?
I have heard way too many! Although one memorable valuation was one where it showed someone in their room sleeping in their undies!

How do you like your steak done?
Medium to medium-rare.
