How often do you see brokers in a week?
I am on the road four and a half days a week, seeing both existing and new business partners.

What do brokers want most from you?
My brokers are looking for a solution that fits their client’s needs. They want a prompt response and to know that I am there for them should any issues arise.

What is your favourite part of the job?
Getting out and meeting people for the first time or the fiftieth time. Each day is different and no scenario, training session or meeting is the same. It’s getting your hands dirty, getting involved in the deal and ensuring it progresses to settlement. If I do the right thing by my business partners they will think of me for more opportunities which is a win win for everyone.

What distinguishes the best brokers you deal with?
They have a full understanding of what their client’s objectives are. They will look for the best solution that suits that need and are not scared to look out to other institutions rather than the big 4 and most important they set realistic expectations with the process.

Describe your ideal weekend
Spending time doing things with my family and in winter following the fortunes of South Sydney, good or bad.

What’s the strangest lending scenario you’ve ever encountered?
I get so many that it’s hard to give a specific one. It still astounds me how even those on big incomes find themselves in situations with big properties and extensive outstanding debts getting over their head.

How do you like your steak done?
Medium to well done, but my favourite is Chicken Schnitzel!

Every Wednesday we’ll feature a different BDM from across Australia. If you’d like to be included, please email the editor.
