BDM in the spotlight asks a different BDM the same seven questions – giving you a weekly insight into the lives of some of the top BDM’s in the country.
Have a read about James Higgs, QLD BDM for Adelaide Bank with 20 years’ industry experience behind him.

How often do you see brokers in a week?
Twelve face to face meetings together with various PD days and training sessions.

What do brokers want most from you?
To be responsive, timely and provide an honest answer or solution.

What is your favourite part of the job?
Getting a deal over the line when all of the obstacles in the way suggest you shouldn’t.

What distinguishes the best brokers you deal with?
Those that submit well presented and structured applications.  Brokers that also see the value in a product rather than just the headline rate also rank highly.

Describe your ideal weekend
Flying Business Class to the UK to watch my beloved Liverpool trounce Manchester United 4-0 at Anfield!

What’s the strangest lending scenario you’ve ever encountered?
Trying to obtain finance for a gold mine.  We were able to source the funding but the client decided not to proceed.  Probably a wise choice given the current price of gold!

How do you like your steak done?
Blue with a nice glass of Shiraz.
