BDM in the spotlight: Hayden Quinney

With 2.5 years in the industry, this week's Vow Financial BDM once had a client looking to finance an oil tanker.

Hayden Quinney is a Sydney BDM for Vow Financial and studied finance and economics at university.

BDM in the spotlight asks a different BDM the same seven questions – giving you a weekly insight into the lives of some of the top BDM’s in the country.

How often do you see brokers in a week?
I like to have on average 3 broker visits per day which is a mix between my existing brokers and also new brokers to Vow.

What do brokers want most from you?
To answer phone calls and emails! BDM 101.

What is your favourite part of the job?
Going out to visit a new broker, getting him set up and then seeing his settlements come through and his loan book grow. The international conference overseas every year doesn’t hurt either!

What distinguishes the best brokers you deal with?
Strong support team that helps them with their admin work, great online presence and most of their leads coming from word of mouth.

Describe your ideal weekend.
Going out for beers on Friday night until the early hours, being lazy around the house on Saturday and cooking pulled pork then going for a hike in the Blue Mountains on Sunday. (Having no kids helps here!)

What’s the strangest lending scenario you’ve ever encountered?
One of my brokers was looking to finance an oil tanker.

How do you like your steak done?
Blue. If it’s not still kicking when it’s on my plate I’m not interested.
