BDM in the spotlight: Grant Roden

This week's St George BDM knows how the best brokers thrive in an ever-evolving industry.

A professional sportsman turned BDM, St George's Grant Roden in Sydney now has 8 years of industry experience and does part time personal training on the side.

BDM in the spotlight asks a different BDM the same seven questions – giving you a weekly insight into the lives of some of the top BDM’s in the country.

How often do you see brokers in a week?
I know my brokers don’t need me in their office every week, but I plan to see them quarterly face-to-face and I’m always on the other end of the phone.

What do brokers want most from you?
Responsiveness, ability to influence an outcome and honesty.

What is your favourite part of the job?
Autonomy of the role and engaging with my brokers not only on a professional level but also a personal level. I love to see them succeed at everything they do.

What distinguishes the best brokers you deal with?
Their time management, ability to plan for the future and they never sit still. This industry is always evolving and the best brokers evolve with it.

Describe your ideal weekend?
I do part time personal training at One Personal Training Solutions @ Padstow, therefore Saturday morning training people, then my own training session followed by time with my wife and kids, nothing better.

What’s the strangest lending scenario you’ve ever encountered?
90 year old wanting a 95% lend for an owner occupied.

How do you like your steak done?
Medium.
