BDM in the spotlight: Denya Dean

Bluestone Mortgages BDM for Sydney, Denya Dean, has been in the industry two years.

BDM in the spotlight asks a different BDM the same questions – giving you a weekly insight into the lives of some of the top BDMs in the country.

How often do you see brokers in a week?
I try and target 15 meetings for the week and aim to always meet new brokers.

What do brokers want most from you?
Efficiency and honesty. To answer my phone and get back to emails as soon as I possibly can! I found when I started this role, brokers were not fussed that I didn’t know the answer to their question… they were just happy I got back to them quickly.

What is your favourite part of the job?
I love meeting new people! I love finding out more about brokers’ businesses and figuring out ways I can assist in potential new solutions/opportunities so they can grow their business by helping more customers that don’t fit the mainstream lending guidelines.

What distinguishes the best brokers you deal with?
I think it starts with passion and persistence. I always find myself asking my brokers what their goals are, those who can easily answer this generally stand out to me.

Describe your ideal weekend.
Hiking, fishing, skiing, rock-climbing, wakeboarding, golf, jet skiing, camping… I could go on forever!

What’s the strangest lending scenario you’ve ever encountered?
I work in the specialist lending space, they are all strange and different and that’s why I love my job, it gives me an opportunity to help my broker partners help more customers.

How do you like your steak done?
Rare…. Living on the edge.

Every Wednesday we’ll feature a different BDM from across Australia. If you’d like to be included, please email the editor.
